Tremulations · Ask Swedenborg

The first Tremulations environment began with a difficult corpus.

Ask Swedenborg is a focused research workspace for exploring Swedenborg’s writings and the Bible while keeping original passages visible.

Ask Swedenborg began as a small experiment: could an AI-assisted interface make a dense, interconnected body of writing easier to investigate without hiding the source material behind a generated answer?

The corpus shapes the product

Swedenborg’s works use their own vocabulary, editions, and paragraph references. The Bible introduces a second structured source collection. A useful interface therefore needs more than semantic similarity. It needs identifiers, source context, and a way to move from a question to the exact passages that deserve inspection.

From answer to evidence

The environment follows a simple loop: ask a question, retrieve relevant passages, open the citations, save useful evidence, and carry it into notes or later writing. AI helps with discovery and explanation; the original texts remain the authority.

The practical promise: make the path from question to source visible enough that a reader can disagree, verify, and continue the work.

Why this is a Tremulations environment

Ask Swedenborg is no longer presented as an isolated application. It is the first example of a broader platform pattern: a domain-specific corpus, a retrieval layer, visible provenance, and a workspace that preserves research across sessions.

That distinction matters. “Swedenborg” names the subject and corpus. “Tremulations” names the platform direction that can support other research environments later.

What is live and what remains in development

The public environment supports source-grounded exploration, citations, saved passages, notes, and an early writing workflow. The broader Tremulations platform and future environments remain in development. The goal is not to overstate completion, but to make the current research loop useful and inspectable.

Keep the source in view

Research first. Generate second. Verify always.
